Give with Gratitude
From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. John 1:16

As we welcome our new rector, the Rev. Beth Taylor, we face new importance of ensuring our financial resources align with the vision of our community’s future. Our operating budget for 2025 necessarily includes an increase in expenses for personnel and cost of living. Pledges, which typically make up approximately 92% of our income, allow us to predictably plan for meeting our annual expenses.

Although pledging is never required, we ask all members to consider making a pledge. If you have never pledged before, you can start with a modest sum. Given on a regular basis this provides much needed support and stability. We offer a gentle suggestion of annually giving 3% of your total income. But what is most important is that your pledge reflects your heartfelt commitment and connection to your St. Mary Magdalene community.

An annual pledge is an intentional statement to contribute financially to the church. Your pledge helps us pay our clergy and staff, maintain our facilities, carry out our programs, support diocesan expenses and reach out to our community and the world.

Ways to Pledge

1. Pledge a cash gift through our pledge form below.

2. Donate stock or other securities.

You may be able to take a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the security at the time of the gift and not have to report any capital gains on the gift. If you would like to make a gift of stock or a mutual fund to St. Mary Magdalene to satisfy your pledge obligation, contact the Colorado Episcopal Foundation ( coef.org ) to help you facilitate the transaction. They will work with you and your broker/financial advisor to transfer your security, sell it, and St. Mary Magdalene will receive the proceeds. Please contact COEF to confirm the status of your donation.

Please make four copies of the COEF instructions: (1) send one to your broker; (2) keep one for your files; (3) mail one to the COEF; and (4) mail one to treasurer@smmboulder.org.

3. Donate your IRA’s Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)

If you are 73 years old or older, and have an IRA from which you are taking required minimum distributions, you may avoid or minimize income tax on those distributions by giving all or a portion of it to St. Mary Magdalene. Any amount given as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) counts toward your RMD requirement and reduces the taxable amount of your IRA distribution. You must follow specific rules when satisfying your pledge this way and should consult with your tax and financial advisors to make a QCD.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  2 Corinthians 9:7
