Matt has been serving churches in Colorado and Louisiana with his music for the past 11 years and is excited to start serving as the Music Director at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church.
A self-taught musician, Matt received no musical instruction until he attended the University of Louisiana where he studied with Richard Seiler. While attending the University, he was awarded the Clara Freiburg Scholarship, the Florence Allbritton Award, and was Outstanding Senior within the Division of Music for achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average that year.
After moving to Boulder in 2008, Matt attended the Graduate Music Program at CU where he studied with Andrew Cooperstock, and received his Master’s in Music Performance in 2011. Since then he has worked as a music performer, teacher, and coach in the Boulder area.
Matt currently teaches at Tara Performing Arts High School in Boulder. His classes include Music History, Music Theory, Hand Bells, and Choir, as well as accompanying many of the Tara shows each year.
Matt’s nonprofessional music hobbies include playing blues and rock guitar, as well as building loud hot-wired guitar amplifiers.
