“Living Stones”
by Fr Bruce Swinehart
It feels great to cross the threshold from Priest-in-Charge to Rector at St Mary Magdalene.  God is good!  I think we can all feel the Spirit blowing a fresh, invigorating wind through our community.  I am thrilled to be part of it and excited to discover where She is taking us.
I really appreciated the integrity and the seriousness with which our discernment process was undertaken by the Vestry and our entire community.  It has given us a shared sense of God’s vision for St Mary Magdalene, and clarity about our mutual expectations of each other.
It has also prepared us well for our annual Stewardship Season, which begins this Sunday.

Copies of Day by Day are available on the back table in the sanctuary and on the table near the parking lot entrance.
New Centering Prayer Group?
Centering Prayer is prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. ~ Thomas Keating
We are considering offering a second Centering Prayer group on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. If you are interested in participating in this new group or would like more information please contact Carolyn Baker. More information about Centering Prayer is available here.
Communion Bread Bakers Needed!
Would you like to bake communion bread? The recipe is simple – making and baking takes about a half hour on Friday evening or early Saturday morning.  Deliver the bread to the church before 10:00 am Saturday.  It is nice too if you present it at the offertory on Sunday Morning, but not necessary.  This is a wonderful expression of service and care for your church family! Contact Janet Poley to volunteer.  Find the recipe here!
Buy Grocery Cards to Support St. Mary Magdalene
Did you know that you can support the ministry of St. Mary Magdalene by purchasing reloadable cards for stores such as King Sooper’s?  SMM will receive 5% cash back for all purchases made on these cards.  For example, in the second quarter of 2018 the church received $1,289.14 in proceeds from card use.  It is an easy and fantastic way to support our church community.  Contact Colleen Brolin to purchase cards or to learn more.
