Thank you for participating in our Visioning Session this past Sunday. We had approximately 50 people doing the visioning plus others taking care of our children and youth who, by all accounts, enjoyed the bouncy castle.
So what are the next steps in our priest-in-charge process? As Ann Fleming, the facilitator for our Visioning Session, explains it, the priest-in-charge process has three seasons: a season of discovery, a season of visioning, and a season of discernment. This entire process can take as long as three years; we are about two years into it at this point.
We are nearing the end of the season of visioning but need to complete a Vision Statement. Once that document is completed, it will be woven into an updated version of our Parish Profile. Then we move into the season of discernment during which both Father Bruce and the Vestry need to discern whether Father Bruce should be called as our new Rector. The Vision Statement will be an important guide in that process.
We have formed a committee that is charged with the responsibility of putting together the Vision Statement. The committee members are Debbie Buckman, Paul Chyc, Robin Guilford, Jane Rogers, and Jim Watkins. The committee will be using the output from Sunday’s session to help create the Vision Statement. The committee hopes to complete the Vision Statement in the next few weeks and will share it with the congregation.
If you have any thoughts or ideas regarding the contents of the Vision Statement, whether or not you attended the session on Sunday, please let one of the committee members know.
A new Sign-Up Board is now located on the wall between the kitchen and the fireplace. Check it out and sign up for providing Altar Flowers or Coffee Hour.
New Name Tags at SMM!
This weekend at St. Mary Magdalene you will notice new name tags on the name tag board inside the parking lot entrance. They are in order alphabetically by each individual’s last name from left to right. If your family has more than one last name you will find the name tags under the specific last name of each person.
If there is a spelling error or you are unable to locate your name tag please email the church office and we will make a new one or you.
Second Sunday Women’s Gathering
Women of the parish, please join us at 10:30 AM on Sunday August 12 in the library as we gather for Spiritual inspiration and physical nourishment. Feel free to bring some food to share but come either way! If you have questions please reach out to Roxanne Bamond.
Sign Up for Fall Supper Clubs
Sign ups for our fall dinner groups will begin on Sunday, July 22nd and continue through August 12th. Small groups of 6-8 will meet 3 or 4 times this fall for a simple meal and fellowship, in homes or restaurants. These gatherings are strictly social and are a great way to get to know other members better. For both new and longtime members! Look for the sign up sheet at the back of the sanctuary or contact Kim Freymiller or Carmel Hill for more information.
Upcoming Events for Children, Youth, and Families
Sunday, August 12th: Bring your Backpacks to the altar for a special “Back to School” Blessing. All backpacks welcome!
Saturday, August 18th: CYF Family Day & Lake Party 11 AM – 3 PM at Loukonen Brothers Reservoir. Please RSVP to Tina Fredo or Sue Crowley.
You may recall that Vestry decided in January to allocate 25% of our monthly plate offerings to Outreach. The results for the first six months are now in. Outreach has been given $2,033.62 to aid non-profit allocations. The Outreach Committee thanks you for your generosity.
Buy Grocery Cards to Support St. Mary Magdalene
Did you know that you can support the ministry of St. Mary Magdalene by purchasing reloadable cards for stores such as King Sooper’s? SMM will receive 5% cash back for all purchases made on these cards. For example, in the second quarter of 2018 the church received $1,289.14 in proceeds from card use. It is an easy and fantastic way to support our church community. Contact Colleen Brolin to purchase cards or to learn more.
