Mental Health Awareness

Mental health challenges can sometimes leave a person and his or her loved ones feeling isolated or outside of the mainstream of the daily lives of those around them.  A certain measure of healing can come from the recognition that these challenges are in fact a part of the larger fabric of being human.  We can learn much about ourselves and about our brothers and sisters when we have room to share our experience of all aspects of the life journey – both the joyous and the hard, the redeemed and the still unfinished. Meeting on Hospitality and Welcome Ministries | Sunday, May 21
Please join Fr. Bruce and Carolyn & Shelby Kesterson at 9:00am for an update on plans to create a culture of hospitality and welcome at SMM, and an invitation to share your ideas and join in. We’ll meet in the library between the services.

Nogales Mission Supply Drive | May 28-June 4 

A delegation of 11 parishioners from St. Mary Magdalene will be traveling to Nogales, Mexico from June 12th-17th. We will be primarily serving and staying with an organization called Hogar de Esperanza y Paz (HEPAC) which supports an impoverished community in the Bella Vista neighborhood, about 3 miles south of the border. They have a list of needed school supplies if you wish to contribute. Please bring your contributions on Sunday, May 28th, and Sunday, June 4th, and place in the bin near the front entrance to the church. If you would like to contribute dollars, you may write a check to SMM and put Nogales donation in the memo line. For more information, contact Leslie Harvison, trip coordinator.

Pentecost and Service Time Change | Sunday, June 4
Come celebrate Pentecost at St. Mary Magdalene on Sunday, June 4.  This Sunday will mark the return to one Sunday service at 9am. The new schedule will run through Sunday, September 10.
End of Year Ice Cream Social Youth Group Fundraiser | Sunday, June 4
Stay for coffee hour after the 9am service on Sunday, June 4th, and enjoy an ice cream sundae scooped by SMM youth!  This is a fundraiser event to help benefit future youth activities.  Stick around; we’ll have games!  Contact Tina Fredo with questions.
Save the Date! Haiti Family Fun Day | June 25
Good food, good friends, and families with fun and games.  Join us to support our families at St. Paul’s in Petit Trou and raise scholarships for our class at the school.
Vacation Bible School | July 19-21
We received your feedback from the Doodle Poll, and Saint Mary Magdalene will be offering a Vacation Bible School July 19-21.  The event is open to the community and we will be working along with Shepherd of the Hills to pull it off.  Please let Sue Crowley know if you are interested in helping. We will need plenty pf adult and youth leaders to help us successfully offer a 9 am to 12:30 pm program for pre-K through 5th grade.
Sign Up to Host Coffee Hour and Provide Flowers
Over the coming weeks there are many openings available. Please take a moment to sign up to host Coffee Hour and/or provide flowers on the bulletin board by the church office.
SMM Community Garden Needs Volunteers!
The community garden is asking for more team members.  We are looking forward to a very productive garden; last year we delivered hundreds of pounds of organic produce to food banks!  Contact Barb Beaton.
